Getting Health Insurance

Open Enrollment offers individuals in the United States the opportunity to register for affordable health insurance every year. If you already have insurance through the Health Insurance Marketplace, you can choose to keep your plan or change it from now until December 15th.

You are eligible to buy insurance through the Health Insurance Marketplace if:

  • You live in the United States
  • You are a U.S. citizen or national (More information here if you’re not sure)
  • You are not currently incarcerated
  • You do not have insurance coverage through your employer, Medicare, Medicaid, the Children’s Health Insurance Plan (CHIP), or minimum essential coverage
